A carbon tax to keep us warm at night?

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

Thursday, 10 March 2011 The harsh reality of the carbon tax is hitting home to local residents who will be forced to immediately pay an extra 6.5 cents per litre at the bowser, and even more later, under Labor’s carbon tax. But fuel is not the only way we will be impacted. Wyatt Roy, Federal Member for Longman is taking up the fight against the carbon tax and is disgusted about Julia Gillard and Labor’s back-flip on her promise not to introduce a carbon tax. Mr Roy is urging residents to sign the petition against Labor’s carbon tax. “I am fighting the carbon tax and want people to join me, by signing the petition to stop the carbon tax. “This does not just impact on families; every small business will be faced with these extra costs. Small businesses and families will face the brunt of this assault everyday as they pay more for essential services such as fuel electricity and … Continue reading

Locals Worried about Rudd’s Mining Tax.

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

The Federal Member for Longman has been caught out – out of touch with strong local opposition to the Rudd Government’s Mining Tax. The results of Newspoll’s survey show that 44% of Longman voters believe the Mining Tax will be bad for the economy. Only 30% believe it will have a positive impact.  LNP candidate for Longman, Wyatt Roy says the Labor MP is wrong to be blasé about a significant new tax that does not have the confidence of 70% of voters. “Questioned about his voters’ rejection of the mining tax on ABC Radio, the Labor Member for Longman blamed the media,” Mr Roy said today.  Speaking on Radio National, Jon Sullivan said “I think because, um, we are getting some really bad press and, ah, I don’t think, ah to be honest, Fran that the media is giving us a fair go but, ah, that’s not something that the media likes to hear much.”  Mr Roy says the … Continue reading

Budget – A SHAMELESS CON

Monday, May 31st, 2010

“This is another big taxing, big spending Labor Budget, with no serious reform,” Wyatt Roy Liberal National Party candidate for Longman said today.    “The Government has not taken a single tough decision to rein in its reckless and wasteful spending.”  “The Budget’s return to surplus relies upon a great big new tax on Australia’s resources sector, not tough decisions. Kevin Rudd’s mining tax is a dagger to the heart of the Australian economy, putting major projects at risk and sending jobs offshore.  “Spending in this Budget will increase by $26 billion over the next three years relative to last year’s record spending forecast. The Government will have to borrow over $700 million a week to fund its reckless and wasteful spending – putting upward pressure on interest rates and the cost of living for Australian families in Longman,” said Wyatt Roy Liberal National Party candidate for Longman.    “The Budget also exposes the costs of the Government’s waste, mismanagement … Continue reading
