Economic Principles
Rebuilding Sustainable Prosperity
Wyatt and the Liberal National Party are committed to sound, sustainable and consistent economic policy, because it leads to low inflation and provides the resources to meet our long term needs in health, education, aged care, housing and income support.
We believe that free, fair and competitive markets should form the basis of our economic system. The rights and choices of individuals are paramount because we know that individuals, rather than governments, are usually best placed to make decisions that maximise community well-being.
We believe in fiscal conservatism. The Liberal National Party will restore fiscal rectitude. We will run a budget surplus over the cycle. We will repay Labor’s debt as quickly as we can.
We believe in small government. The Liberal National Party acknowledges that government has a role in raising taxes and other revenue, formulating laws and regulations, and spending money to achieve legitimate social objectives, however, governments’ power to spend need to be exercised with caution.
We believe taxes must be as low, as fair, and as simple as possible. The Liberal National Party is acutely aware that taxes are other peoples’ money.
We support sustainable economic growth. Strong economic growth provides economic security. Strong economic growth ensures rising living standards.
We believe fostering strong growth in productivity is an important element of sustainable economic growth because it is ultimately the level of productivity that determines our standard of living.
We are committed to “light touch” regulation. Australia’s system of financial regulation weathered the global storm better than almost any other developed country. More regulation constrains credit and inhibits innovation. Australia has led the world in prudential supervision, corporate regulation and market oversight. We believe we must continue this global leadership.

Small Business Principles
Backing Longman Small Businesses
Small business is the driver of Australia’s economy, underpinning growth and innovation and providing jobs for millions of Australians. Wyatt Roy and the Liberal National Party stand for real action to keep costs down and protect small businesses. We will always back small business to grow our economy and create jobs locally, something that is important in Longman where small business is doing it tough. We are fighting for a fair go for local small businesses.

Growth Principles
Towards a Productive and Sustainable Population Growth Path for Australia
Wyatt and the Liberal National Party are committed to putting Australia on a population growth path that will deliver:
Productivity –keeping our economy strong and support continued growth.
Sustainability –protecting and conserving our environment and resources.
Liveability – preserving the quality of life we enjoy as Australians.
Security – ensuring we are able to defend our nation’s borders, assets and values.
We will create a national debate on a sustainable population growth path for Australia.

Infrastructure Principles
Less Talk, More Action
Wyatt and the Liberal National Party believe infrastructure is about getting things done, not just talking about it. While Labor fails to meet its promises on transport, broadband and other key investments in the future, we will continue to fight for less talk and more action.

Health Principles
Hospital in the Hands of Communities
Wyatt Roy and the Liberal National Party stand for direct action to put decision-making for hospitals back in the hands of local doctors and nurses. We believe that all Australians should have access to an affordable and quality health care system, regardless of where they live.

National Security Principles
Protecting Borders, People and Values
Wyatt and the Liberal National Party stand for direct action on border protection and an end to Labor’s soft approach. We will keep fighting to protect our borders, people and values.

Environment Principles
Real action for Climate Change, Energy Security and Water Scarcity
Wyatt Roy and the Liberal National Party stand for real action to tackle the complex challenges of climate change, energy security and water scarcity.
A Liberal National Government will establish an Emissions Reduction Fund to support CO2 emissions reduction activity by business and industry.
We will support 140 million tonnes of abatement per annum by 2020 to meet our 5 per cent target.
We will make incentives available for the oldest and most inefficient power stations to reduce their emissions in an orderly manner which protects jobs, electricity prices and energy security.
The Emissions Reduction Fund will also provide incentives to support further direct action that may be required to meet our emissions reductions targets.
A Liberal National Government will introduce a range of initiatives to boost renewable energy use in Australian homes and communities.
We will invest $100 million each year for an additional one million solar energy homes by 2020.
We will establish 125 mid-scale solar projects in schools and communities, and 25 geothermal or tidal power ‘micro’ projects.
We will support the development of larger scale renewable energy generation, by reserving a proportion of incentives provided through the Renewable Energy Target for bigger projects.
We will support major studies into the potential for algal synthesis and biofuels and into replacing high voltage overhead cables in our cities with underground cables.

Locally we will implement two Green Army Initiatives: Cleaning up the Caboolture Region Estuaries Campaign and the Bribie Island Environmental Recovery Programme.
Education Principles
Supporting Parental Choice for Education
All Australian children deserve a high quality education that enables them to develop the skills necessary to realise their potential. Wyatt and the Liberal National Party support parental school choice because we actually believe in it. We will not punish parents for investing in their children’s education.

Seniors
Wyatt and the Liberal National Party recognise that senior Australians are a wealth of knowledge and experience with ideas and solutions to shape our nation’s future.
We believe this knowledge and experience should contribute to Australia’s future, which is why we have created the Engaging with Senior Australians Initiative. We will ensure that senior Australians from all aspects of Australian life are given the opportunity to participate in the political process and have a say on the policies that shape the future of our nation.
To read more, see our plan for engaging with senior Australians
Community Principles
Providing Opportunities by listening to our Communities
Wyatt and the Liberal National Party are committed to providing opportunities for all Australians, including families, women and indigenous Australians in order to strengthen our communities. We will help Australians secure their future and ensure they can exercise genuine choice over the big decisions that matter to them.
Wyatt is dedicated to the concerns of the people of Longman. Wyatt is committed to meeting people face-to-face and hearing about what their concerns are, because the people of Longman deserve someone who really listens to them and represents their interests.
