Patrick Williams | 8th February 2011 THERE are 175 million people on Twitter, but it would seem the majority of the Sunshine Coast’s politicians are not among them. Only five of the Coast’s 11 combined state and federal MPs use the micro blogging website to open up and communicate with the world and their electorates in 140 characters or less at a time. On a state level, Steve Dickson (Buderim) Jarrod Bleijie (Kawana), Fiona Simpson (Maroochydore) and Peter Wellington (Nicklin) have a presence within the network. However, Mark McArdle (Caloundra), Andrew Powell (Glass House) and Glen Elmes (Noosa) are all missing from the Twittersphere. Of the Coast’s representatives in federal parliament, only Longman MP Wyatt Roy has welcomed the popular website into his life. The political boy wonder also appears to be the Coast’s most watched MP on Twitter, with 1776 users following his constant updates.
